My passion is helping others take a step towards a better future, and I will be there to guide you through your journey. I offer a safe and welcoming environment to promote personal growth, strengthen relationships, learn skills, and navigate the stressors of life to create a positive change.
I believe the key to change is knowledge, awareness, an avenue for healing and a positive mindset. I start by first understanding the type of change you desire, then helping you mobilize the next steps. Together, we’ll explore how to get to a place where your ups and downs in life are manageable. I believe people are much more capable of doing hard things than they believe. Therapy is not just about identifying strategies for making change, but for reminding people of their own power in making those changes happen.
The first four years of my career were spent working in Northern Michigan and Metro Detroit providing home-based services to children, teens, and their families. During those years I gained an eclectic array of services and utilized a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused to individuals ages 6 and up. I am certified in Trauma Focused CBT, which has been instrumental in helping children and teenagers who have endured trauma. I began working in private practice in 2019 and my experience includes working with children, teens, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other mental health conditions.
My clients can expect an environment that is created to allow you to be your authentic self. I want the counseling space to be one in which you never feel shamed or judged for being who you are, but one where you feel known, validated, and respected.
Education: I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in trauma.

It’s common to feel sad, low, or hopeless from time to time, especially during difficult life situations. Also, while responding to stress, most people experience anxiety from time to time. However, if you feel sadness lasting longer, or persistent and extreme anxiety most days, we will work together while utilizing behavior activation, CBT and mindfulness skills that are best suited for you.
The goal of anger management is to reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes. You can’t get rid of or avoid the things or people that enrage you, nor can you change them, but you can learn to control your reactions. Through therapy we will also explore underlying emotions and how to identify and express them in a healthy/safe manner.
ADHD begins in childhood and in many cases, is diagnosed in adulthood after being missed in childhood. People with ADHD typically have trouble with self-regulation, causing difficulties with organizing, initiating, and sustaining functional actions over time. I utilize a combination of CBT and Mindfulness skills in session to help address and manage daily functions.
Trauma is complicated. It can be obvious, with a clear cause, and symptoms that seem to make sense. It can also be buried beneath depression, anxiety, and anger, without any recognizable origin. The causal event/events may have occurred a week ago, or half a century in the past. While practicing trauma-informed care, we will discuss the best form of treatment for you.

I'm a firm believer that within the context of therapy, a healthy and trusting therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for change. In the spirit of building trust, below you will find some important information about me.
Currently a fully licensed social worker in Michigan, I started by earning my bachelors in psychology from Olivet College, followed by my Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. My prior experience includes working as a crisis clinician and outpatient therapist at community mental health agencies in both Northern and Southern Michigan. I've also held the role of behavioral health consultant, in which I worked directly with patients in pediatric and OBGYN offices, and assisted doctors in connecting with psychiatrists to better treat their patients with mental health concerns. I have received advanced training in somatic- and attachment- focused Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (S.A.F.E. EMDR), which research has found to be an effective treatment for trauma, anxiety and depression, and other common mental health issues. Dependent upon client needs, I also pull from other evidenced-based modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
Throughout my clinical experience, I've developed a real passion for working with young women and women. I tend to work best with women who have experienced trauma, grief & loss, pregnancy & fertility issues, and those in the healing/helping professions. Each person's narrative is so unique and important, and by utilizing EMDR, IFS, and other therapy modalities, we can work to change your narrative from one of struggle and hurt to one of strength and growth.
When I'm not working with clients, I love getting crafty with home DIY projects, spending too much money on good coffee, trying to keep my plants alive, and getting cozy with my kitties.

This is short for "Somatic- and Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing" (you see why I stick with the acronym). SAFE EMDR is a robust therapy modality that allows us to help your brain separate pain of past memories from the present. By doing this, you will be better able to connect and feel safe in the here and now.
Trauma can occur from scary/painful events that happened "to" you, & it can also stem from what consistently did or did not happen "for" you. How we currently navigate the world and develop relationships is often rooted in how we learned to relate to our caregivers in early childhood. While we cannot change the events of our past, we can change the way our brains process the events of our past.
Holding space for our clients' or patients' hurt can often be activating for our systems. It is my honor to work with those who are seeking a space to practice separating themselves from the pain of their clients or patients. As healers & helpers, it is also critical to recognize our own "human-ness", and address pain we may have experienced long ago and continue to carry with us.
While many folks are thrilled to become pregnant, and have a healthy pregnancy and delivery, many people also struggle to conceive, experience birth trauma, have pregnancy/postpartum complications, develop postpartum depression or anxiety, or experience pregnancy loss. All pregnancy, fertility, birth, and postpartum experiences are unique, and you deserve to share your story.
Feelings of grief and loss are not exclusive to the death of a loved one. New parents can experience grieving the loss of their old selves before becoming parents. Folks who become chronically ill carry the grief of losing their previously healthy self. Young adults may grieve the loss of their youth as they transition into "full on adulting". Bottom line - all loss is valid.
While depression & anxiety are among the most commonly experienced mental health problems, each person experiences them uniquely. In addition to learning skills to cope with the symptoms, we will also work to find the root causes of your symptoms. I've found that exploring early relationships and attachment styles is often an important piece of effectively treating anxiety & depression.
